Introduction to Forensic Documentation of Trauma

The Asylum Program at Physicians for Human Rights (PHR) and the UT Health San Antonio Center for Medical Humanities and Ethics (CMHE) are partnering to host a virtual asylum training for faculty and students: Introduction to Forensic Documentation of Trauma: Evaluating Immigrant Survivors of Torture and Ill Treatment. This event will be at no cost to attendees.

Medical and legal experts will lead presentations on the basics of Asylum Law, Documenting Physical and Psychological Sequelae of Torture and Ill Treatment, Best Practices for Writing Effective Medical-Legal Affidavits and Testifying in Court, and more. See the attached agenda for the day's schedule and options for breakout lectures including pediatric, LGBTQIA, and gynecological sessions. This training is a necessary prerequisite for achieving PHR and the CMHE’s mutual goal of creating a network of healthcare professionals trained to provide forensic evaluations for asylum seekers in San Antonio and the South Texas community.
